Experience Description

There are thousands of years of history and culture to discover in the second-oldest capital city in Europe. Lisbon is located at the mouth of the Tagus River, which empties into the Atlantic Ocean. We’ve designed this half-day tour to drive you by some of the city's main monuments and uncover some of its stunning views.

On the way to Nossa Senhora do Monte, our first stop, you will pass by numerous other landmarks, including the Cathedral, the churches of Saint Anthony and Saint Madalena, and the Monastery of Sao Vicente de Fora. Alfama and Mouraria are two famous neighborhoods with pedestrian-only labyrinthine streets.

This burgeoning neighborhood of the city, primarily established following the 1755 earthquake, includes the Portuguese National Assembly and a Renaissance basilica. After that, before we drop you off at the meeting point, we will drive through Principe Real, a bohemian section of the city, until we reach the top of Edward VII Park viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of downtown and the first populated hills. Join us and enjoy the best views of Lisbon.

Before beginning our walk, stop at one of the most well-liked and scenic viewpoints. All significant landmarks are located below as long as you stay at the top.

Belem Tower

Next, we will discover the landmarks of the Portuguese Golden Age, specifically the Belem Tower and the Jeronimos Monastery. These monuments are the perfect examples of the Manuelino style.

Jeronimos Monastery

We will next visit the magnificent Jeronimos Monastery, which represents Portugal's Age of Discovery and is a magnificent example of Manueline architecture.

Estrela Basilica

We will pause for a short photo shoot at the magnificent Estrela Basilica, a large neoclassical church. Its tasteful baroque interior and dome can’t leave anyone indifferent.

Sao Bento and the National Assembly

We will glimpse this historic structure of government importance as we pass by Sao Bento Palace, the seat of the Portuguese Parliament.

On our walk, we can't miss Camoes Square, a historical area with the spirit of the Portuguese poet Luís de Camoes

São Pedro de Alcântara and Principe Real (if parking available)

We’ll head to a scenic viewpoint in the charming Portuguese neighborhood if we find a parking spot. It offers panoramic views of the city.

With breathtaking views of Lisbon extending to the Tagus River, our tour culminates with a photo stop at the Edward VII Viewpoint.
