Experience Description

Included in the UNESCO perimeter of Sintra, the Monserrate Palace, featuring a blend of Arabic, Indian, and Neo-Gothic influences, underwent its most recent renovation in the mid-1800s, thanks to the efforts of Sir Francis Cook, a merchant who built his fortune with the East Indian Company and got residence here. Surrounding the palace are gardens with some cool ponds visible around the corner, and it is home to Portugal's first lawn. We will take a leisurely walk around the gardens and explore the palace's interior, which includes an exquisite music room and detailed plaster details that highlight the owner's influences.

This impressive geographical formation, with its cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, inspired Portuguese sailing expeditions. Before it was considered the boundary between the known land and the unknown sea.
